Nancy Marchand (June 19, 1928 – June 18, 2000) was an American actress. She portrayed Livia Soprano in a main role of The Sopranos until her death. She made a posthumous appearance on the show in the premiere episode of the third season using computer-generated imagery of her past appearances, a process which cost $250,000 to make.
