Comare (typically pronounced "goomar") is a term for a made man's mistress. Throughout the series, members of various organized Italian-American crime families are shown to keep a comare. They regularly habitate with them, and even take them out to dinner. These women, as well as being young and attractive, are often from other ethnic and racial groups (rarely of Italian extraction), and would therefore be unsuitable or unacceptable as wives. Two notable exceptions are Bobby Baccalieri and Johnny Sack, who were faithful to their wives. Wives of made-men are fully aware that their husbands have mistresses for the ones that do.
